EDUCATION

EDUCATION

B.A. IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS

My education at the University of Washington, highlighted by my enrollment in the University of Washington Honors Program, has been instrumental in honing my UX design skills and unlocking my potential in this field.

As an Information Systems student, I learned core UX skills (e.g. prototyping and user research), and gained expertise in complementary areas like data visualization and surveying methods — all of which enriching my ability to create user-centric

designs informed by data.

The University of Washington Honors Program's interdisciplinary approach has provided me with a distinct edge. Their approach nurtures innovative thinking and equips me with exceptional communication skills. In other words, I'm loud and proud - in a controlled fashion.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

I am currently advancing my expertise in the UX field through my enrollment in certification programs, including my recent completion of the Google UX Design Professional Certificate. In parallel, I've created a dedicated Instagram network to connect with designers who share insights contributing to success in this field.

This combined approach ensures that I am not only staying current, but also engaging with a community of designers to enhance my knowledge and skills.

THE CALM CLASSROOM

Market Research Analyst & Designer

Over the past year, I've had the privilege of playing a significant role in the growth and development of The Calm Classroom (TCC), a platform dedicated to promoting social-emotional learning in educational settings and beyond.

As a designer and market research analyst, I've been deeply involved in TCC's transformative journey. In the past 6 months, we've seen our platform's audience expand from 80,000 to over 300,000 followers.

My primary responsibility has been to navigate the platform's social media landscape and online engagement. I analyze post-performance data and identify trends and insights. From there, I create comprehensive reports, providing my sister and The Calm Classroom with guidance on creative direction. This role has extended beyond analysis; I've actively recommended branding strategies and suggested improvements that align with our mission of advancing social-emotional learning.

Supporting The Calm Classroom has been both professionally rewarding and personally fulfilling, as we make a meaningful impact on the educational community.

WE CARE UW

Registered Student Organization

I had the privilege of being involved with WE CARE UW, a student organization dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for women worldwide. As the Head of Marketing, I led a collaborative and comprehensive platform-wide rebranding campaign, yielding remarkable outcomes, including:

  • A significantly enhanced online visibility,

  • A substantial boost in user engagement,

  • A noteworthy upswing in organization membership.

Our rebranding efforts not only expanded our outreach but also reaffirmed our commitment to the cause of empowering women through education.

MEGANJAMESDESIGNS

Small Business Venture

What began as a simple Instagram account to showcase my illustrations grew into one of the most fulfilling projects I've ever been a part of.

"meganjamesdesigns" was my personal small business venture. It included an Instagram account, which quickly expanded to an Etsy store and vending at local markets. This multifaceted approach to selling transformed my small account to a thriving business, with revenues surging into the thousands of dollars.

It exemplifies my adaptability, commitment, and the integration of creativity with business acumen, shaping my approach to UX design today.
